HOPE for Autism
Hope for Autism is a DCA committee that provides free Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children with autism whose parents cannot afford professional services. Hope members receive ABA therapy training and participate in a shadowing experience prior to being matched with an autistic child. Once matched, the student works with the child on a weekly basis.
Hope members also volunteer at other organizations in the community, including My Place to Be, Flying Colors Preschool, and providing childcare at parent support group meetings.
Raising autism awareness on campus is another important component of the Hope group. We host informational sessions, movies and other activities. In 2009, we will be participating in the Walk Now for Autism fundraiser in Columbus.
